TOEFL? answers to all your questions - click!

 Hi everybody,
I hate being sick (soooo I'm gonna write a post about these American Healthcare costs, appointments etc. - for example you can even pay for a blood test OVER 1000$ - not everywhere but it happens ) it's kinda hard to find a doctor or clinic which provides your insurance...

Okay, so let's talk about better things today,

some of you have heard about TOEFL and don't even know - what does it mean?

TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language)
it shows your ability to understand and use English at the university level. It's also important if you want to study in an English - speaking country.
The test consists of:
  • listening
  • reading
  • speaking
  • writing
What's more, people takes this test for various reasons such as:
-learners who just want to track their progress,
-scholarships,
-certification,
-applying for visas etc.

If you're interested in studying abroad (anywhere) for example UK, Sweden, Denmark, Australia or even Japan you should start preparing for this test soon because more than 9,000 colleges, universities and other institutions accept TOEFL scores - in over 130 countries!

Many of you keep asking me...
How to learn ?

It's a lot of hard work - you'll have to expand your vocabulary by for example reading books, newspapers, websites (translate unknown words), using Apps on your phone - I've found some interesting on Apple Store : Synonyms, TOEFL vocabulary, TOEFL Words (unfortunately, you have to pay for some capabilities),
learn all of the grammar tenses (I don't even know how many we have),
really important - listening - you can watch movies, TV shows, travel to English - countries for vacations, speak and listen to the native person.

There's some more resources online that I'm gonna share with you:

How much does it actually cost?
It depends on a country - visit the website https://www.ets.org/bin/getprogram.cgi?test=toefl (for more information)
In the USA it costs around 200$.

If you're considering studying abroad - this is the first step to make your educational success come true!
There's some valuable benefits that I've noticed so far:
  1. International experience by studying and living in a foreign country. You'll see new places and meet fascinating people - its traditions, and its culture. In addition, you will become more responsible, confident or independent.
  2. You can be fluent in English - remember, you'll talk this language all the time.
  3. That's a chance to experience a different style of education.
  4. Broaden your worldview - you can improve your skills, gain interests and be inspired by others success stories.
  5. Life experience once learned never forgotten - if you really wanna try it - do it. You don't want to regret something you didn't do - life's too short.

To sum up, you know more about TOEFL, the next thing I'm gonna talk about is:
SAT (Scholastic Assessment Test)
Stay warm peeps,

What happens in NYC stays in NYC... PART 1

Hi,

long time no see !

Actually, my life is in such a mess - I have no idea WHAT I wanna do when I grow up - WAIT, I'm already grown up... that's a problem.
Take it back a few months and I had everything planned out but now, everything has got to be complicated. Being spontaneous is just living in the present I definitely enjoy it but thinking about the future can be pretty scary!!

Anyway, I'm not gonna complain about it anymore - we'll see how it goes.

Less words, more photos!

Walking down the Little Italy street.. I found a Mickey Mouse, we look similar lol

Whatever it is - I'm a butterfly!!!

Everytime I explore the NYC I enjoy it like a little kid, I love it.
That's a DUMBO view.

 Do you recognize these bridges?

Who cares, I can sit on it. It's a World Trade Center in the background!

More breathtaking views,

it looks amazing, everybody should see it!!!

I'm sharing with u my last vid from sunny but cold New York. Weather forecasting isn't always accurate so it's always unpredictable and many people complains about it.
What else, I got used to it so it's not that bad although I'm freezing now.
All I need is Spring - coming soon.

The next post will be about this ridiculous snow storm in Washington DC and my NYC area.
Keep calm and stay warm!!!
Take care,
xx,
M.

100th day in the USA, really?

Hi,
time flies,

100th day in the USA...

seriously?

This is going to be a really short post but anyway I'm so excited it's 100 days in here.
I'm so grateful for all the wonderful people, moments, experiences since October 2015.
I've become a different person and what else, I'm learning more about myself each day.

What's more, I'm planning to visit some places this year (100% sure!)
  • Washington DC
  • Philadelphia
  • New Jersey
  • Boston (maybe Rhode Island)
  • Niagara Falls - already in process!
So, I've decided to take part in the Niagara Falls classes and I'm gonna visit it in the beginning of the June.
  CANADA I'M COMING !!!

I'm gonna share with you guys some photos from NYC soon,
tbh. that was a short note because I receive so many questions everyday - I don't have enough time to do everything I want, so that's it. The photo on the top is just a little sneak peak !!

Thankssssss,
xx,
M.

A meeting with Ben Stiller - American Museum of Natural History! NYC

Hi,
yeah, I'm kidding I almost met him - I was in the American Museum of Natural History where the film 'Night at the Museum' was shot. It's an amazing feeling when you can recognize the places and things from the movie.

So I met my friend there (we were planning it for a long time) - she lives in White Plains - about 40 mins from me. It's also the perfect place to escape a cold winter day or a humid one.

The entrance:

DID YOU KNOW?
  • that's the largest natural history museum in the World
  • it has 4 floors and a lower level = 45 exhibition halls
  • it's situated near the west side of Central Park
  • this place isn't the same as in the 'Night at the Museum'
  • the entrance price is recommended - it means people can pay whatever they can afford
  • it's easy to get lost (even with the map)
(Lucky me we were on the interview with experts)

Honestly, some of the exhibitions are hard to understand but it looks unusual and different.

As you know this museum presents the history of nature so there're plenty of animals, it's called 'live-animal exhibitions'.
Firstly, you can see 3D with only one eye - it's incredibly amazing - the exhibit shows us animals (that had lived) trees, rocks etc. (like in their original area) and the background is fake.
The wall was especially made to feel the nature and imagine yourself to be for example - in the middle of nowhere, forest or mountains.

He almost ate my head...

Do we look similar? Just a little bit???

Theodore Roosevelt
(or Teddy) is mostly remembered as the 26th President of the US and I feel like this Roosevelt Memorial Hall celebrates his passion for preserving America's wilderness for future generations.
By the way, that's an amazing experience to BE THERE! If you have a chance to go there, just do it - it's totally worthy.

"LUCY"
is one of the most complete skeletons found to date from the early hominids that flourished between 4 and 2 million years ago - that's unbelievable... it's presumably female, who stood well under 4 feet tall but anyway for experts it was hard to decide.
This was discovered by scientists in 1974 (3.18 million-year-old woman) they named her Lucy because the researches listened to the Beatles song 'Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds' to celebrate their incredible find.

It's literally impossible to see everything on a single visit. You can spend hours here exploring the different floors and exhibits, so that's why this trip made our feet hurt.
I've never seen such a good dinosaur exhibition as here - I'm disappointed they're not alive!!

That's just a little bit of everything concerning natural history :

  • dinosaurs
  • evolution
  • minerals, rocks, fossils
  • space
  • aquatic life
  • animals
and more...
look at this map:

And this is what I got as a little souvenir from this Museum it's sooo cute!
As you can see it used to be a 1 cent!

Hope you like those photos - I have a lot but I chose the best ones.
This trip was really exhausting but I'm glad I did it!!!
Take a last look -

See ya!
xx,
M.
